How do we communicate with Asian workers? Is there any chance that they will learn at least basic Hungarian?
Whenever possible, we aim to provide our partners with employees who speak at least basic English. This is important because we screen and interview candidates alongside our recruiters during the process, and their English knowledge makes a huge difference in this regard.
However, some of our partners have some challenges in communicating in English early on until the foreign workers have learned at least the basics in Hungarian. Various translation applications make communication much easier. We see many good examples of the willingness and readiness to learn basic Hungarian in the foreseeable future. Setting requirements and expectations in this area can also help a lot to achieve the desired goals.
Do we need to make any physical changes to the workplace to accommodate the specific needs of the workers you recruit?
The Asian workforce that we recruit is flexible in this way. Typically they do not have any special needs that require modifications. For example, they do not need a separate changing room or canteen.
What does the accommodation of foreign workers look like?
Accommodation is up to individual agreement. Most often our partners arrange accommodation on their own or rent properties in workers’ hostels. Our agency can also arrange accommodation through partners in certain parts of the country if required.
How can our company hire Asian workers?
Once you have the workers you wish to employ, you will need to complete a so-called “consolidated application procedure” for foreign workers with the authorities.
A consolidated application means that, in the case of a positive assessment, the applicant will be entitled to both reside and work for the company for which he/she is authorised. In the procedure, the authorities will first examine the applications submitted at embassies and consulates in their home country (or in Hungary) from an employment perspective. Afterwards, the immigration police will make the decision.
If the procedure is successful, the workers will be issued with the necessary visas for entry at the relevant embassies and consulates. Once they have entered the country, they register with the immigration authorities and then receive a work and residence permit. In the past, receiving residency cards was often done in person, but recently the cards are sent by post. If the application has been submitted in Hungary and has been successfully assessed, all that remains is to receive the new permit.
Our company has never employed foreign guest workers before. How do we start the process?
Since this area is in many ways different from what host companies were used to in the past, we recommend that you consult an expert before starting the process. If you are open to it, we will be happy to answer any questions you may have at a free consultation.
What sectors and what kind of qualified workforce can you provide?
We mainly operate in sectors requiring physical labourers,, but we are also experienced in the placement and management of university graduates. Some of the sectors requiring physical labourers are the following:
- Manufacturing
- Cleaning, domestic work, housekeeping and household duties
- Warehousing, logistics
- Construction
- Agriculture
- Catering
We recruit and manage all aspects of the recruitment of intellectual and physical workers (skilled and unskilled).
From which countries can you recruit workers?
In recent years, we have recruited foreign workers from several countries. Our experience, language, culture and other reasons have led us to prefer the Asian workforce, especially Indian workers. We also have recruitment partners in other countries. These include Vietnam, Nepal, Kazakhstan and Mongolia. If you already have your candidates, we can also take care of the entire recruitment process for you.
In what circumstances can we not employ foreign workers?
Although it’s becoming more and more common to employ foreign workers in our country, in some places it’s not possible. One such reason may be to work in certain specialised places (e.g. ministries, airports) where Hungarian citizenship and/or a Hungarian Police Clearance Certificate may be required.
How common is it to employ Asian workers in Hungary?
In the last few years, the employment of Asian workers has become more common in Hungary due to the increasing workforce shortage. This process has slowed down because of the COVID virus, but with the recovery of the economy the situation is returning to the pre-virus stage. As time goes on and the relevant regulations evolve, the employment of more foreign workers may become more common. To give an example, in 2020, more than 1,200 work residence permits were issued in Hungary to Indian nationals.
What should we do if an Asian employee does not suit us?
No matter how conscientious and professional the recruitment and management, it is very difficult to achieve 100% retention, especially when it comes to large numbers of workers. Although the retention and success rate of the employees we manage is often much higher than that of local employees, turnover still happens.
If, for whatever reason, your company decides to dismiss a foreign worker, it can do so under the current laws. However, there are a few formalities to consider. Of course, we are also at your side in such situations and, in addition to professional assistance, we can arrange for another foreign worker to fill the vacant post free of charge on request and on the basis of individual agreements.
What payment methods can we choose from regarding the different services?
Depending on the specific services, you can choose to pay at once or in several installments.
What are the costs involved in the process leading up to employment of foreign workers?
We have designed our full range of services so that the employer only has to cover administrative costs up until the time the foreign worker starts working, with no other hidden costs in the process.
How many years can a third-country worker be employed by our company?
Hungarian companies can employ third-country workers for a maximum of two years on a fixed-term contract. The residence permit for employment purposes can then be renewed.
What is the guarantee that the workforce we provide you will be permanent?
We not only see our activity as a business opportunity to make money, but also as a mission. We consider it important and feel a great responsibility for our business. . Our aim is to arrange foreign workers for our partners who will serve both the host company and the country, both personally and professionally. Our years of professional experience, our reliable recruiters and our satisfied partners, together with our principles and our sense of vocation, are therefore the guarantee that we provide our partners with the right people.
